Global Clean Energy Electric Terminal Pin and Connector Manufacturer

Building EV Chargers with Advanced Software and Integrated Power Electronics

EVgo, one of the largest public fast-charging networks for electric vehicles (EVs) in the U.S., has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with long-time technology partner Delta Electronics, a power management company and provider of IoT-based smart green solutions.

The two companies are collaborating on the development of a next-generation EV charging architecture designed to give EVgo greater control over the customer experience while improving reliability and delivering enhanced energy efficiency at a reduced cost.

As part of the agreement, EVgo and Delta will build on their long-standing partnership to develop fast chargers focused on enhancing the customer experience. These chargers will feature advanced software, integrated power electronics, contactless payment interfaces, ultra-high power 400kW distributors, and extended cable lengths for easier access to charging ports for all EV models.

The new charging architecture will incorporate advanced features to improve energy efficiency and power distribution across sites by enhancing EVgo’s Dynamic Power Sharing capabilities. Designed to align with battery advancements over the next few years, EVgo’s next-generation charging technology will allow for dynamic sharing of power between up to six charging stations at a time.

The enhanced power-sharing capabilities enable EVgo to implement flexible station configurations that can be customized to meet the specific needs of each station. This aspect will be critical as the company focuses on building larger stall footprints to maximize the customer experience and accommodate the growing number of EV drivers on the road.

“Delta looks forward to further collaborating with EVgo to pioneer the future of EV charging infrastructure by redefining the customer experience, improving charger reliability, and advancing energy conservation,” said Austin Tseng, president of Delta Electronics Americas. “Delta’s core competency in efficient power electronics and system integration will be key in this effort.”

EVgo expects to complete final design and rigorous interoperability testing at its Innovation Lab and deploy these new chargers by the second half of 2026. As part of the next evolution of EVgo’s charging architecture, the company will also enhance its charger firmware and software capabilities to enable more detailed error codes and more flexible interfaces to improve maintenance, reset times, and the overall customer experience.

These innovations will leverage each vehicle’s unique charging profile to deliver a faster, more efficient charging experience and reduce energy consumption and costs while meeting drivers’ evolving needs. EVgo aims to reduce its total capital expenditures per stall by 30 percent while increasing peak power delivery by nearly 20 percentage points.

This co-development work is taking place in parallel with ReNew, an initiative focused on creating an overall better customer experience for EV drivers. As part of ReNew, EVgo recently launched new diagnostic tools and features to improve reliability, streamlined payment processes through improvements to Autocharge+, and proactively addressed legacy equipment issues on its network. At the same time, the company continues to invest in the development of its future charging infrastructure.

Through significant investments in customer-centric hardware, firmware, and software solutions, EVgo is continuing to build a nationwide fast-charging network to power the future of all-electric transportation.

China's new energy vehicles are developing rapidly, and the charging module market has broad prospects.
